Earlier this evening I managed to catch the Moon and Jupiter on the rise. It was a bit of a challenge due to partly cloudy skies which would just not give me a break. This picture was shot on a tripod with a Sony A350 @ f/6.3 an ISO of 100 on bulb for 10 seconds.

My wife and I have a tradition of watching the fireworks in Jackson GA every year. This year we did it a bit different. Being it was our first year anniversary of marriage we went alone. It was a whole lot quieter without the grandkids and we had a great time.

I originally went out back tonight to catch the conjunction of Venus and the crescent Moon. This is what I brought back instead. I'm still experimenting on how to take lightening pictures. Should anyone have some technical advise I'd be glad to listen.

Last weekend my wife and I drove down to Pine Mountain GA for a day trip to the Wild Animal Safari. I spent many years managing my family ranch and have first hand experience in the ways of large bovine.

Last weekend my wife and I took an overnighter to Calloway Gardens in Pine Mountain GA. One of our favorite places to just get-a-way. We always visit the Cecil B. Day Butterfly House and walk a few paths while we are there.

My cactus finally decided to bloom early yesterday morning. If you look closely you'll see the drops of dew on the petals. However, don't get too close or you might get poked by a thorn.

I began my morning ritual as usual with a cup of coffee on the back porch. Today was somewhat different and I don't know why. Perhaps it was the humidity or filtered light from the clouds.

Some of these things are from around the house, on the road and all points in-between. I've been carrying my camera along more these days. Sometimes you have time to get a shot and other times you just have to keep it in your minds eye.

Last night I sat back and watched a full moon rise to the southwest. I got out my Farmers Almanac and checked it. Come to find out this moon has three names.

The house is quiet, it's Saturday and there is a thunderstorm blowing in from the southwest. Time to grab a cup of coffee and my dog Elvis for a trip to the porch. There are few things I enjoy in nature more, than a good rainstorm.

A few weeks back I helped a friend drive to Florida and back over the weekend. Just as we passed over the state line into Florida I noticed a combination restaurant/gator farm. So, being as I was driving and hungry, I made a command decision to stop for lunch. What a cool place.

This old barn and blooming foliage caught my eye a few days ago. I pulled over just to get a few pictures when this old farmer approached me. I explained to him I only wanted a picture or two of his barn and I would be on my way.

I pulled over under a shade tree just at the edge of a hay field to eat a bite of lunch. Somewhere between the Vienna sausage and the sharp cheddar cheese I noticed some haying equiptment close by. Then I took notice of the shapes it presented and pulled out my camera.

...because it means planting season is here. As you can see by the sign we plant more than just peanuts. I wonder if $2 a sprig is a good price? Personally, I don't want to walk around with the top of my head looking like its just been planted with tiny Vidella onions.

I have been driving through Rio (unincorporated) GA for years and realized the other day I have never seen anyone there. Sort of creepy if you ask me. The grocery store/gas station and nick-nack shop have always been closed so far as I know. But someone keeps them neat.

Traveling the back roads of Georgia can make a fella hungry. I see about 6 patients a day, travel close to 150 miles per day to see them, I always pack my lunch. It's cheaper than eating in some fast food restaurant and tastes much better.

Here in Georgia it snowed last week. Four inches in all. Not much by northern standards but allot for us. However it's a blizzard to my dog Elvis who has never seen snow. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

I know Ben stated in the rules of the challenge that only one picture would be allowed. So, I asked him if it would be OK to post two and he agreed it was OK.

Tonight while I was out back BBQ'ing some chicken I remembered there was going to be a flyby of the International Space Station (ISS). So I turned down the heat on the grill and turned to setting my camera up for a shot.

A few weeks ago I was noticing a slight pain in my right hip. I decided to follow up with my family doctor and see what the problem was. After a brief exam my doctor recommended I have a MRI so that the problem could be isolated.

Day in and day out draft horses pull carriages and wagons full of tourists through historic Charleston. Talk about a thankless job. As a tribute to these hard working animals I decided to post a few pictures of them at work.
